Sanjeev A. Datar, MD, PhD is Professor of Clinical Pediatrics at UCSF. He earned his undergraduate degree at Yale University before completing the Medical Scientist Training Program at the University of Washington and the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Institute. He subsequently pursued subspecialty training in Pediatrics and Pediatric Critical Care Medicine at UCSF, where he developed a focus on cardiac intensive care and congenital heart disease (CHD). Early in his training, Dr. Datar came to appreciate the critical role of the pulmonary lymphatic system in CHD pathobiology. This has informed his ongoing studies using large animal models of CHD to study pulmonary vascular dysfunction and pulmonary hypertension.
