Ruth Heying is a paediatric cardiologist at the University Hospital of Leuven, Belgium.
She is the head of the research unit Cardiovascular Developmental Biology at KU Leuven.
She is engaged in clinical patient care including pre- and postoperative care, echocardiography and catheterizations. At the KU Leuven, she fulfills teaching tasks. Her research interest is on infective endocarditis and the pathogenesis of S. aureus infections. Actual research focusses on the interaction of bacteria and platelets on different cardiac tissues in a flow model. She is the chair of the Educational Committee of AEPC.
