
Nico A. Blom is a professor of Paediatric Cardiology, subpecialized in pediatric electrophysiology and catheter intervention. He is the head of the Pediatric Cardiology departments at both the Leiden University Medical Center (LUMC) and Amsterdam University Medical Center (AUMC) since 2008. These departments are part of the Center for Congenital Heart Disease Amsterdam-Leiden.
In addition to his academic and clinical roles, Dr. Blom has held several key international positions. He served as the Scientific Secretary of the Association for Pediatric and Congenital Cardiology (AEPC) from 2017 to 2021 and has been the President of the AEPC from May 2022 until May 2025. He is also the Thematic Leader for the area of Congenital Heart Disease within the European Reference Network GUARD-Heart, focusing on rare cardiac diseases.
Dr. Blom has published over 300 papers and many book chapters, reflecting his significant contributions to the field of pediatric cardiology.
