Dr Karin Tran-Lundmark is a pediatric cardiologist at Skåne University Hospital and Associate Professor at Lund University, Lund, Sweden. She received her MD/PhD degree from the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm. Her main clinical focus is advanced heart failure/transplantation and pulmonary hypertension. She spends 50% of her time in the clinic and 50% at the Biomedical Center in Lund conducting translational research. The main research focus is vascular remodeling in pulmonary arterial hypertension and the role of the extracellular matrix in pulmonary vascular disease. However, she also has an interest in the management of pulmonary vascular resistance in the setting of ventricular assist devices and heart transplantation. During the last few years Dr Tran-Lundmark and her group have started to use synchrotron-based phase contrast micro-CT for visualization of the vascular micro-anatomy in severe pulmonary hypertension.
