
Ewa-Lena Bratt RN is a Full Professor at the Institute of Health and Care Sciences, Sahlgrenska Academy, University of Gothenburg, where she also serves as Vice Dean for internationalization, cooperation and sustainability. She combines her academic leadership with clinical expertise as a specialist nurse at the Pediatric Heart Center, Queen Silvia Children’s Hospital, where she has worked since 1998.
Her research focuses on pediatric cardiology, health transitions, and family-centered care, and she has an extensive scientific record with more than 50 peer-reviewed publications, over 120 conference contributions, and significant success in securing national research funding. She earned her PhD in Medicine in 2011, exploring psychosocial consequences of screening for hypertrophic cardiomyopathy in children and adolescents. In recognition of her international engagement, she was appointed Honorary Professor at the University of Cape Town in 2024.
Ewa-Lena is actively engaged in scientific review and advisory roles, including serving on the Swedish Research Council’s Committee for Clinical Therapy Research and multiple grant and academic review boards. She is an experienced supervisor with numerous completed and ongoing PhD projects and has undertaken international postdoctoral stays in Belgium and South Africa.
Through her combined clinical, academic, and leadership work, Ewa-Lena Bratt contributes to advancing pediatric cardiac care, strengthening global collaborations, and supporting the next generation of nursing and health sciences researchers.
