Prof. Bea Latal is a board-certified developmental pediatrician. She trained at the University of San Francisco and at the University of Zurich. She is a fullprofessor at the University of Zurich and the Co-Director of the Child Development Center at the University Children’s Hospital Zurich. Her clinical and research work focusses on newborns and children at risk for neurodevelopmental disorders, specifically children with congenital heart disease. Dr. Bea Latal conducts several large-scale clinical cohort studies in which she examines the spectrum, severity, and course of neurodevelopmental impairments of children who are survivors of intensive and neonatal care. She is an internationally recognized researcher and has received the prestigious Newburger-Bellinger Award of the CNOC for her pioneer work in the population of children with complex congenital heart disease. She is focussing her research on developing novel behavioral family centered interventions aiming at improving the neurodevelopmental outcome of children and the quality of life of their parents.
