Dr. Tristan Ramcharan is a Consultant Paediatric and Sports Cardiologist based in Birmingham, UK, working at Birmingham Children’s Hospital. He specializes in the management of congenital and acquired heart conditions in children and young athletes, with expertise in advanced cardiac imaging, including stress echocardiography and cardiac CT.
He holds an MSc in Sports Cardiology with Distinction from St. George’s, University of London, and has expertise in the young athlete's heart as well as patients with exercise-induced symptoms and cardiac rehabilitation. He looks after young athletes from around the UK and also provides a second opinion and advice service for national and international colleagues looking after young athletes with heart conditions or cardiac patients with professional athletic ambitions.
Dr. Ramcharan is an active researcher with international presentations and peer-reviewed publications in pediatric cardiology and sports cardiology, recently co-authoring the BSE Echocardiography in the cardiac assessment of young athletes guideline.
He is a member of the Football Association's Sport Cardiology Expert panel and is also an honorary senior lecturer in Sport Cardiology and module lead for the MSc in Sport Cardiology at City St. George's, University of London.
Within the AEPC, he serves as the CT Liaison officer on the Imaging Working Group.
Dr Ramcharan chairs his hospital 3D segmentation & printing steering group, working closely with Aston University for the segmentation of congenital heart defects, as part of an academic collaboration.
