Assoc. Prof. Katja Prokšelj, MD, PhD, is a consultant cardiologist and Head of the Division for Structural and Congenital Heart Disease at the Department of Cardiology, University Medical Centre Ljubljana, Slovenia’s leading national medical institution and the country’s only tertiary referral centre for adults with congenital heart disease (ACHD). Her clinical and academic work is primarily dedicated to the care, management, and long-term follow-up of ACHD patients.
She collaborates closely with colleagues in paediatric cardiology, cardiac surgery, and adult cardiology to enhance awareness, strengthen multidisciplinary cooperation, and continuously improve standards of care for patients with congenital heart disease.
Dr. Prokšelj currently serves as Treasurer of the ESC Working Group on ACHD and has been an active member of the ESC Study Group on ACHD in Central and Southeastern Europe since its foundation. She is also Deputy Editor of the European Heart Journal – Valvular and Structural Heart Disease.
