Dr Ferran Espuny Pujol is a Lecturer at the University of Reading and an Honorary Research Fellow at the University College London (UCL) Clinical Operational Research Unit (CORU). With a PhD in Mathematics and an MSc in Statistics and Operational Research, he specialises in the application of data science and mathematical modelling to improve healthcare outcomes.
Dr Espuny Pujol has conducted significant research on the linkage of national congenital heart disease (CHD) audit data with hospital, intensive care and mortality registry datasets to enable risk-adjusted monitoring of surgical outcomes (e.g., mortality, complications) for quality improvement. His work frequently involves interdisciplinary collaboration with clinicians, charities, and audit bodies to better understand and communicate surgical risks and long-term survival in both paediatric and adult CHD populations.
